Mentoring

The Rugby Football Union and England Rugby objectives include to grow the women and girls’ game and increase the number of players, coaches and match officials from the traditionally underrepresented Black, Asian and female backgrounds.  They also identify a need to empower all people who deliver rugby to deliver in an inclusive way, ensuring all participants regardless of background are welcome, and have a great experience.

England Rugby is proud to introduce the England Rugby Mentor programme to identify, support and develop the next generation of coaches and match officials.

Mentoring

Why mentoring?

Mentoring is a powerful tool that can be used in the development and education of people involved in Rugby.  Everyone involved in the game can benefit from an effective mentoring programme.

Mentoring is about getting the very best out of someone and enabling them to make decisions that will improve themselves.

Mentoring is widely acknowledged as an increasingly more powerful and important aspect of developing our coaches, and match officials. Importantly, mentoring does not claim to have all the answers, but to work with the mentees to help them find the answers themselves.
